Beard wax types and how to use them

When it comes to choosing the right beard wax for your beard, there are many different types available. The most popular types of beard waxes are beeswax-based, petroleum-based, and wax-based.

Beeswax-Based Beard Wax

Beeswax is the most common type of beard wax. This type of wax is made from the beeswax secreted by honey bees. Beeswax is a natural product that is used to help style and condition the beard. It helps to hold the shape of the beard while adding shine and thickness. This type of wax also helps to keep flyaways in check and can help with frizz control.

Petroleum-Based Beard Wax

Petroleum-based beard waxes are made with petroleum jelly, which is a thicker, more viscous substance than beeswax. This type of wax helps to hold the shape of the beard better than beeswax and can provide more hold for styles that require extra staying power. Petroleum-based waxes can also help with taming flyaways and frizziness but may be too heavy for some people’s beards, leading to greasiness or an overly stiff look.

Wax-Based Beard Wax

Wax-based beard waxes are usually a combination of beeswax and other ingredients such as lanolin or shea butter. These types of products provide a lighter hold than petroleum-based products but still offer enough control for styling purposes. Wax-based products can also help to condition the hair while providing a light sheen that adds some shine without looking greasy or heavy on the face.

Once you’ve chosen a type of beard wax that works best for your specific needs, it’s important to know how to apply it correctly in order to get optimal results. To apply your chosen product, start by combing your dry beard in order to detangle any knots or tangles before applying any product. Then add a pea size amount of product onto your fingertips and rub them together until it has melted into an even consistency before applying it evenly throughout your facial hair using upward strokes with your fingers or a boar bristle brush if desired. Once you have finished applying the product, use either your fingers or a comb to shape and style your facial hair as desired before letting it air dry completely before touching up any areas that need more definition or styling if desired
